The SAMMY Scholarship is open to high school students in the United States of America, as well as the District of Columbia, who have maintained at least a 3.2 (on a 4 point scale) cumulative GPA (Grade Point Average) while participating in a school or club sport. Applicants will be required to submit an application, which can be found on the website, as well as a short essay, 75 to 250 words in length, on how drinking milk has helped them become the athlete they are today. Applicants will further be required to submit a letter of recommendation from their coach as well as their high school principal or school counselor
The SAMMY Scholarship is opened to any male or female student athlete(with a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA), whether they participate in football, basketball, hockey, soccer, swimming, cheerleading, cross country, track and field, skiing, wrestling or any other school or club athletic team.
At the SAMMY Scholarship it is believed that it takes hard work and dedication along with a cold glass of milk to succeed in both school and in sports. It is well known these student athletes put countless hours studying, practicing, and striving to become better in each arena. And the SAMMY Scholarship is looking to reward such hard work and dedication with twenty-five $7,500 college scholarships!
The Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year Award Scholarship is proudly sponsored by National Fluid Milk Processor Promotion Board. Milk contains a plethora of vitamins and nutrients that have been shown to be essential for bone and teeth health, muscle function along with a variety of other benefits. Packed with calcium, vitamin D, and phosphorous it’s hard to find a better beverage for any one, including young athletes! The SAMMY Scholarship wants to encourage all students to get their daily intake of cold, satisfying, vitamin packed milk!
The requirements to qualify for the Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year Award Scholarship are as follows:
-High School Senior
-Participation in a school or club sport
-Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher (based on a 4 point scale)
-Regular consumption of milk and dairy products and the knowledge that it has helped the student become a better athlete
-Resident of the United States of America or the District of Columbia
-Enrolled full time in an accredited 4 year college or university for the Fall 2014 semester(minimum of 12 credit hours)

Applicants will be notified if they are one of the lucky twenty five scholarship recipients. Each recipient will receive $7,500.00 towards their college tuition as well a trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida for themselves and 1 (one) guest to attend the Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year Award Scholarship award ceremony.
