This scholarship is not only about entering college, but also about athletes. If you love sports, especially basketball, you might want to apply for a scholarship from the Miami Heat Foundation. The reigning NBA champions are offering the Heat scholarship program this year for high school students. The Miami Heat provides the scholarships to high school seniors. The Miami Heat are offering $10.000.00 in scholarship funds to high school seniors attending Miami Dade, Broward or Palm Beach high schools. The scholarship recipients are awarded in May. So, apply as soon as possible. This year the application deadline is April 6th 2014. This will be the seventeenth year that the Miami heat has offered scholarships. The scholarships are awarded based on varying factors. However, they are usually based on academic, performance, and outstanding community services. There are four options of scholarships that are available each year valued at $2.500.00 to high school seniors who excel in academics and community services. Here are the scholarships that offering include –  Two $2.500.00 Heat scholarships (awarded to students who have excelled in academic and community services and have a financial need) –  One $2.500.00 Dr. Jack Ramsay scholarships (awarded to student who have in academic and community services and have a financial need) – One $2.500.00 Alec Kessler student athlete scholarships (awarded to student who excels in academic services, participates in a sport and has a financial need)

Miami Heat Scholarships: 2014 Heat Scholarship Program

This scholarship program is open to students of both public and private schools as well. To be eligible for the 2014 heat scholarships, you must meet the following criteria. If you want to apply be sure to read them carefully. In order to be considered for any of the four of the Heat scholarship programs, the student who wants to apply must meet all of the requirements below that include: – The applicant must submit an official transcript from the high school registrar along with a copy of SAT or ACT stores –   The applicant must be a high school student enrolled in a Broward, Miami Dade, Palm Beach county public or private school – The applicant must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 by the end of the second grading period of their senior year –  The applicant must complete a writing sample as outlined in the application form – The applicant must be accepted to enroll in a four-year accredited college or university in the USA –   The applicant must have met financial need for assistance – And the applicant must submit the letter and include two additional letters of recommendations, two or more letters from a community based organization, and one letter from their high school athletic director or coach verifying candidate’s participation in a high school sport
