The Cumberland farms scholarship program began six years ago and has awarded nearly $800,000 to hundreds of college-bound high school students to fulfill their financial assistance. The applicants of the scholarship are usually individually reviewed to determine the eligibility guidelines such as living within a 3-mile radius of a Cumberland Farms store, has had outstanding academic performance throughout high school and has shown financial need.
Cumberland Farms Scholarship
An award of $130,000 in Believe and achieve Scholarship has been given by Cumberland Farms to 130 students in Connecticut, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Vermont, New Jersey, New Hampshire, New York and Massachusetts last year. Cumberland Farms has products that directly benefit thousands of young people through scholarships and has donated millions of dollars in cash, local fundraising, youth sports, direct to school program and many more. The program is open for students to enter full-time undergraduate courses and study at an accredited college. All winners will be informed in the spring of the next year. Over 1,000 students from the high school class of 2013 have applied to win this scholarship that has been announced by the company.
“We are passionate to help young adults to succeed and this program is a great way for us to provide the financial support to so many ambitious and bright students in the service area that need to beat the economic climate challenging. We are also thrilled at the overwhelming response to our Believe and Achieve Scholarship Program this year,” said Ari Haseotes, the President of the Cumberland Farms Retail Division.
“It from the thanks and generosity of Cumberland Farms that teaches people to pursue a higher education and have large dreams, but with small budgets has always been one of my greatest goals and can strive to reach their goals.” Colcord now attends Worcester Polytechnic Institute. “I can pay for textbooks, supplies and other necessary school expenses with the assistance of this scholarship.” Said 2012 scholarship recipient and Madison, NH resident Brittany Colcord.
The requirements Of The Cumberland Farms Scholarship Applicants Are:
- Must have completed senior high school, up to 25 years of age or a recipient of a GED certificate who plans to register in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four-year College or university or vocational-technical school for the first time.
- The GPA or grade point average should be in a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or have an average score of 500 for a GED.
- Live within a 30 miles radius of a Cumberland Farms retail location.
The application process may have items such as essays that could take a couple of hours to fill out when applying for this scholarship.
