The Arkansas lottery has a really short history. It was recognized on November 4th 2008. This program was born when the state legalized the sale of lottery tickets. Then first lottery ticket was sold for the first time on September 28th 2009, a couple of days earlier than had originally been predicted. A few months later after the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery had been created, it began to offer Powerball tickets and officially became the 31st US lottery.

The Arkansas Department of Higher Education itself consists of dedicated professionals and hard-working groups that have a goal to maximize the success of Arkansas’s universities and colleges. The work of the agency is to recommend institutional budgets to the legislature and higher education, to manage the financial aid program and the state’s scholarships, and insure academic viability and program quality. Their goal is to also promote the importance of postsecondary education in enhancing both community quality of life and personal. In addition, the department approves and reviews academic programs, administers contracts with the southern Regional Education Board and statewide financial aid programs to support first professional study outside of Arkansas and the graduate. Funded in large part by the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery, the academic Challenge Program provides scholarships to Arkansas residents and is available to students regardless of their academic status.

The requirements Of The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery

The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery and Arkansas Department of Higher Education are working together to get information from the current recipients of the Academic Challenge Scholarship to make sure they notice their requirements for maintaining the scholarship. The academic challenge will be awarding qualified students of $4,500 per year in its third year. The current UA students and recent Arkansas residents may be eligible as current achievers only need to apply for consideration. Be sure to fill out the application for the 2013-2014 academic year if you did not yet apply for the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship in time for 2012-2013. It will be done at the start of the spring semester to remind parents and students of hour requirements and the GPA. If students are not enrolled enough hours, they can still do it depending on their institution deadline for the spring semester.

The Continuing Of Eligibility Criteria For The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery

  1. You must maintain your 2.50 cumulative GPA.
  2. At the first academic year, you must complete 27 semester hours and each year that follows should be 30 semester hours.
  3. During 30 hours taken after receive the scholarship; you must complete all remedial courses.
  4. Should be continuously enrolled except for the student requesting for the scholarship to be placed on hold.
  5. Shall enroll in sixty-six semester hours or the settlement of an associate degree program, except the number of hours that needed to complete the associate degree program exceeds sixty-six semester hours.
  6. If the recipient earns a baccalaureate degree and try to get a total of 130 semester hours in 8 semesters, it will be renewed.
