Money for College Nursing: What Are The Requirements?

If you are planning a nursing career, there are many government grants and funds available to help you through your education.  Taking courses for college can be very costly and applying for grants early can relieve stress in knowing that your college education can be paid for.  There are programs which pay up to 5 to 10,000 dollars and are only limited by location, or a qualifier such as working in the same state for two years upon completion.  And, if you are serious about a nursing education you will need to apply early for your grant and decide on what location you will be working in.  Once you pick out your specific college, the financial aid office of the college will be able to work with you to determine the factors necessary for qualification according to your need.

An undergraduate student can apply for the grants or student loans for nurses with several different programs which give them money for college nursing.  Some pay for the entire educational program requiring the student to work in low-income areas for two years upon graduation.  One of these programs is with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services who make full tuition scholarships for the nursing students.  Government grants for nurses not only pay for tuition but also for living expenses and other miscellaneous expenses including books.  The deadline for application is in the spring and it is simply called the nursing scholarship program.

Money For College Nursing: Government Grants For Nurses

There are many state scholarship programs depending upon the state, Indiana is one of the government grants for nurses.  The State Student Assisted Commission of Indiana awards a scholarship up to $5000 and is renewable each year. The state program requires the nurse to work two years in Indiana after graduation.  So, a person living in the state can take advantage of this opportunity.  Another state that offers money for college nursing is the state of Texas.  These applications can be obtained from the financial aid office from the college.  They provide up to $2500 per year for professional nursing degrees and  up to $1500 for vocational nursing degree.

The wonderful part now about having the Internet available, is the fact that there are grants and student loans for nurses to start school online for adults.  For example, at chamberlain you can do three semesters entirely online from RN to BSN.  This is very convenient, and affordable because a student can save money on living expenses and transportation, and can fit the courses into their schedule.
There is another program online called scholarships for moms and offers a $10,000 scholarship.  The application only takes 1 minute to see if a student qualifies.

Another program that supplies money for college nursing is a free application for Federal student aid.  As soon as a person receives their W-2 form they can apply for scholarships when they are still in high school.  The FAFSA coordinates with a financial aid office to determine how much financial aid you may need.
