A student can find them on the internet; seek help from the guidance office, and the financial aid office at colleges. The Hope For Addiction scholarship believes that every student should have the opportunity to higher education. A student has to fill in their contact information and they have to be drug free and obtain for the use of alcohol. The student then writes about their family history and how the scholarship with help them with furthering their education. Student applying for this scholarship must be under the age of 28. They must be attending or accepted to a two or four-year college or a trade school. The applications are reviewed and the chosen applicant will receive a scholarship to help with the cost of higher education. Applications are selected on a quarter basis and scholarships are usually rewarded in the amount of $1000. The number of scholarships that will be given out that year are determined by the committee members in the month of January.
The Betty Ford Center Scholarships
Scholarships for children of alcoholics are funded through many private companies and organizations. The Betty Ford Center has special scholarships for children of alcoholics. This scholarship does have specific requirements. The recipient must have a high school diploma and be enrolled in or accepted to a two or four-year university. The applicant has to write an essay about how this scholarship will help them improve their lives and the lives of those around that. The application is required to speak to youth counselors at the Betty Ford Center in private and group settings. These sessions will reinforce that the children did not cause their parents to become alcoholics. This disease is not their fault. These sessions will also help keep the students motivated and encourage them to keep making positive decisions to change their lives for the better.
